St. Louis Family Trip

City Museum - St. Louis

In late-May, we spent a few days in St. Louis with the kids and grandkids. We had a great time, and wanted to share a little about the places that we visited so that it may help with your next trip there.

St. Louis West KOA Patio Site

We stayed at the St. Louis West KOA in Eureka, MO. Each of the kid’s families had their own cabin, and we rented one of the patio sites. The patio worked perfectly for our large group, and the kids loved the activities at the campground.

  • Patio Site - $109 avg/night

  • Caboose Cabin - $149 avg/night

  • 2 Room Camping Cabin - $89 avg/night

  • 31 miles to Gateway Arch & 20 miles to Grant’s Farm

GameXPloration - St. Louis Science Center

On the first full day, we headed to the Forest Park area, and the first stop was the St. Louis Science Center. There were several interactive exhibits that the kids enjoyed, most notably the GameXPloration area.

  • Admission - Free

  • Parking - $15

Later that day, we headed to the other side of Forest Park to the St. Louis Zoo.

  • Admission - Free

  • Parking - $20 for non-members

Grant’s Farm

The next day we headed to Grant’s Farm. This is a unique attraction that provides opportunities for the kids to interact with animals, and for the adults to see some of the history of Anheuser Busch. It is also home to the Budweiser Clydesdales.

  • Admission - Free

  • Parking - $16

  • Fun Pass - $12

View of St. Louis from the top of the Arch

No trip to St. Louis would be complete without visiting its most visible attraction. The Gateway Arch stands 630 ft. above the city, and provides amazing views from the top.

  • Tram rides to the top start at $15 for adults, $11 for children

City Museum Rooftop

Our final attraction of the trip was the City Museum. We had heard people say that it was a must see, but we really didn’t know what to expect. I don’t think we could have ever imagined what we found. Think a mixture of a maze, a jungle gym, an amusement park, and a tiny bit museum. It is definitely worth checking out.

  • Admission - starts at $20 (rooftop is extra)

  • Parking - $15

  • Pro Tip - Take knee pads
